Why this exists

The mark is in the words, not the characters

Anthropic currently names Fable 5.1 and Mythos 5.1 as supported. Those models can weave an imperceptible mark into generated text as they write. New models launched on or after 2 August 2026 are marked at launch; pre-August 2 models are not confirmed marked. That signal can survive copy/paste — and light edits. Does Claude watermark text?

Yes, for supported models launched on or after 2 August 2026 — currently Fable 5.1 and Mythos 5.1. The official mark is statistical (SynthID-Text style); there are no hidden characters. Detection is a private preview, not public. Stripping Unicode or HTML does not remove it. A complete rewrite can.

How do you remove Claude’s watermark?

Claude’s mark is woven into token choice, not a logo or metadata field. We neutralize it by regenerating the text with a non-Claude rewrite model—aggressively changing wording and structure while preserving meaning. Anthropic itself notes that heavy paraphrase can make marks undetectable.

Does this detect the watermark first?

No public consumer detector exists. Anthropic opened a private preview of watermark detection for eligible organizations. We do not have access to that API, so we cannot run detect → rewrite → re-check — including for Fable 5.1 and Mythos 5.1. We run a neutralize-by-rewrite pipeline designed to destroy statistical signatures.

Which Claude models have the text watermark?

Anthropic currently names Fable 5.1 and Mythos 5.1. New models launched on or after 2 August 2026 are marked at launch. Models from before that date are not confirmed marked.

Does this change file provenance or C2PA metadata?

No. This tool targets Claude’s embedded text watermark. File provenance (C2PA on PNG/JPG/SVG) is a separate problem and not handled here yet.

Is it free?

Checking and cleaning run in your browser, free, with no account. Rewrite uses Polar credits because that is the part that costs money to run. Credits never expire, and failed jobs are not charged.

What’s the difference between Clean traces and Remove watermark?

Clean traces is free and in-browser: it strips HTML class names containing “claude”, zero-width characters, and exotic/nbsp spaces. Em dashes and curly quotes are stylistic, not proof. Remove watermark is a paid rewrite (1 credit = 500 words) that paraphrases with a non-Claude model to disrupt the statistical mark in token choice. Checking never leaves your browser; rewrite hits the API and is then discarded.

Is my text stored?

Checking never leaves your browser. Rewrite sends the passage to our neutralize API, then discards it. We don’t build a permanent content archive.

Can I get a refund?

Only within 48 hours of purchase, and only if no rewrite credits from that purchase were used. After that, no refunds. Failed jobs are never charged. Polar is the merchant of record.
